| DESCRIPTION |
Objective
Upon completion of the program, graduates will be eligible to apply for a license from the Florida Department of Health to work as an Electrolysist in a spa, clinic, beauty salon, or wherever electrology services are offered.
This program trains individuals in the theory and skills of permanent hair removal. The theory portion includes the biological study of the skin and hair, and the modalities of thermolysis, electrolysis, and the blend. Subjects include anatomy, endocrinology, bacteriology, dermatology, sterilization, electricity, follicle insertions and treatment. Students watch demonstrations and practice skills on up-to-date equipment.
The requirements for entering are listed under Admission Requirements. There are no additional requirements or prerequisites for this program.
This program is based on hours completed. For the purposes of this program one hour is fifty minutes. |
| ACADEMIC EVALUATION |
Academic work is evaluated and grades are assigned at the end of each course above in order to determine student's level of performance. A score of 75% or higher is passing grade. Students with poor or failing scores can take the test once more. The grade for the course will be the highest of the two. A student must earn a 75% or better on the average of all courses to take the school final.
After completion of the required 320 hours, students must the school final. The purpose of the school final is two fold; First, evaluating student performance and second, preparing students for the State final. After completing the school final, student must pass the examination required by section 478.45(2), Florida Statutes. Fees are established by the State of Florida. |
